Job Title: Restaurant Host/Cashier

Job Summary:

As a Restaurant Host/Cashier, you will provide friendly and efficient service to guests according to company policies, procedures, programs, and performance standards. You will be responsible for maximizing guest satisfaction and quality of work environment as directed by the Manager on Duty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Host Activities and Guest Interaction: Welcome guests, seat them in a friendly and timely manner, and ensure their dining experience is highly satisfactory.
  • Reports to Work: Arrive well-groomed, in clean and proper uniform, and practice good personal hygiene.
  • Opens the Door: Greet guests as they enter and leave the building.
  • Uses Greeting, Seating, and Waiting List Procedures: Seats guests in a friendly and timely manner in person or on the telephone.
  • Anticipates and Corrects System Breakdowns: Identify and correct system breakdowns to achieve maximum guest satisfaction.
  • Completes Wait Sheets: Ensure wait sheets are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Greet and Seat: Welcome new guests as they arrive and show them to their seats.
  • Take Cash: Check out guests at the register and thank them for their visit.
  • Hospitality: Move through the dining room regularly to ensure guests have all items needed.
  • Sell Bakery: Offer suggestions for take-out bakery items and efficiently package to-go orders.
  • Clean: Ensure the cashier area, bakery cases, and displays, lobby area, entryway, and guest restrooms and dining room stay clean throughout the shift.
  • Assist Crew Members: Process To-Go orders, maintain guests' needs, and assist servers with pre-bussing procedures.
Physical Requirements/Environment/Working Conditions:
  • Extensive Standing and Walking: Up to 8 hours.
  • Visual Requirements: Must be able to see at a distance (20 feet), at close range (12 inches), distinguish between shapes, and utilize peripheral vision to avoid hazards.
  • Communication: Must be able to communicate clearly.
  • Exposure: Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold.
  • Reaching Heights: Reaching heights of approximately 6 feet and depths of 2 1/2 - 3 feet.
  • High Level of Mobility/Flexibility: Must have high level of mobility/flexibility in space provided.
  • Time Management Skills: Must have time management skills.
  • Reading and Writing: Must be able to read, write, and perform addition/subtraction calculations.
  • Finger Dexterity: Must be able to control and utilize fingers to write, slice, chop, and operate equipment.
  • Fitting Through Openings: Must be able to fit through openings 30 inches wide.
  • Irregular Hours: Must be able to work irregular hours under heavy pressure/stress during busy times.
  • Bending, Reaching, Walking: Must be able to bend, reach, and walk.
  • Carrying Trays: Must be able to carry trays of food products weighing about 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet.
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to Dish and Cleaning Chemicals: Exposure to dish and cleaning chemicals.
Supervision Received:

Receives direction and training from the Manager on Duty as to the specific procedures and assignments.

Knowledge and Skill Required:

Basic skills such as sanitation, safety, and customer service can be taught through in-house training.
