CDL Class A Driver Job Description

Thalle Construction Co. Inc. is seeking a skilled CDL Class A Driver to join our team. As a CDL Class A Driver, you will play a critical role in supporting our construction operations by transporting, loading, and unloading goods safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and safely drive assigned delivery vehicles, including quad axle dump trucks, flatbed trucks with knuckle booms, and flatbed trucks with trailers.
  • Transport construction materials, pipe, embedment, and spoils between project locations and laydown facilities.
  • Ensure trailer hitches are properly attached to tractor units and contents are securely loaded to prevent damage.
  • Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at designated destinations.
  • Assist site teammates with loading and unloading processes.
  • Map driving routes and confirm shipment contents match manifest documents.
  • Perform vehicle inspections prior to and following each trip.
  • Check weather conditions and road reports before departure.
  • Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
  • Track and report working hours.
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations, as well as ICC and DOT regulations.
Requirements:
  • Valid Class A driver's license required.
  • 2+ years of experience driving a related class A vehicle preferred.
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations.
  • Skilled and confident driver with ability to maneuver and park a tractor-trailer.
  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented with ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Physically and mentally fit with ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Physical Requirements:
  • Perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Move heavy objects (94 pounds or more) short distances (20 feet or less).
  • Move light objects (less than 94 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet).
  • Heavy lifting with repeated stooping, carrying, and bending over time.
  • Work long shifts with non-standard break times.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
