Job SummaryWe're seeking an E&S Underwriter to join our Contract Binding Division. As an E&S Underwriter, you'll be responsible for underwriting renewal business, administering and monitoring underwriting guidelines, and providing superior service and guidance to General Agents.
Key Responsibilities- Effectively gather, analyze, and evaluate renewal risk exposures using available resources, providing appropriate risk documentation.
- Apply knowledge and understanding of coverage forms, rating plans, and guidelines in the selection and pricing of individual risks, ensuring adequate pricing through proper classification and adherence to company underwriting standards.
- Work within specific authority levels to review, modify, and approve renewal risks within territorial assignments, in accordance with accepted underwriting guidelines.
- Provide guidance to General Agents and other departments regarding underwriting information, effectively communicating underwriting decisions and appetite to agents within assigned territories.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, communicating openly and in a timely fashion.
- Conduct continuous profit and growth analysis by territory and agency, monitoring premium retention with electronic reporting tools, and providing internal reports for management staff as required.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the usage of all supplied desktop tools, including automated underwriting and email systems.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/peers.
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to change as the company moves forward in its strategic vision.
- Must have a valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile.
- College degree preferred.
- Must have 3-5 years of underwriting experience.
