Job Summary

The Clinical Director of Respiratory Care will be responsible for overseeing the clinical education of respiratory therapy students at Pima Medical Institute. This includes evaluating the effectiveness of clinical instructors, securing new clinical sites, and providing guidance and counseling to instructors and students.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate the performance of clinical instructors and provide feedback for improvement
Secure new clinical sites and contractual agreements to provide students with diverse learning experiences
Visit clinical facilities to provide guidance and counseling to instructors and students
Ensure students receive technical instruction from instructors at clinical sites and maintain records of medical direction
Coordinate with clinical staff to establish clinical assignments for students and develop clinical objectives and evaluations
Conduct orientation for students at each clinical education site and monitor competency evaluations
Evaluate the performance of students regarding course objectives and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs
Instruct students in both classroom theory and learning laboratory, prepare lecture plans and materials, and provide feedback to students
Collaborate with public and community respiratory care agencies to provide students with opportunities for learning and growth

Requirements

Baccalaureate degree from an academic institute accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) State license
Four (4) years of experience as a registered respiratory therapist, including two (2) years of experience in clinical respiratory care
Two (2) years of instructor experience in an accredited respiratory therapy program
Verbal and written communication skills, as well as knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and other computer skills
