Schedule and Work Environment:

Good Shepherd Lutheran Community offers flexible scheduling options, including Monday-Friday 4:00 pm to 12:00 am and Saturday and Sunday shifts. As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will oversee and direct staff in clinical nursing responsibilities to promote quality care and improve resident outcomes.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Nursing is a registered nurse who oversees and directs staff in clinical nursing responsibilities. This role is responsible for ensuring quality care and improving resident outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience as a staff nurse and a Nebraska or Compact-State license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Admissions: Assist with new admissions, ensure all orders from admission paperwork are in PCC, and complete assessments within 2 hours of admission.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all resident and family services comply with federal and state regulatory requirements. Participate in compliance inspections and complete audits as directed.
  • Management: Ensure staffing/coverage to provide sufficient personnel for delivery of resident/family services. Make recommendations for staffing to the Staffing Coordinator and provide administrative on-call support.
  • Staff Development: Participate in planning, developing, and implementing orientation, ongoing education of the clinical staff, and training new nurses as needed.
  • Nursing Services: Assist the Director of Nursing in ensuring 24-hour availability of nursing services to residents. Ensure staff coverage and manage resident care with contracted staff.
  • Training/Support: Assist the Director of Nursing in appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Quality Assurance: Review, identify, develop, and analyze trends with clinical outcomes that directly relate to the CMS Quality Measures on the CASPER Report. Create effective Performance Improvement Plans to ensure quality improvement outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered nurse and maintain current Nebraska or Compact-State license.
  • CPR certified.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a staff nurse.
  • Preferred one-year supervisory experience.
