Position Summary:

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is tasked with ensuring the overall cleanliness and upkeep of equipment, facilities, and grounds. This role is commonly known as a Janitor and encompasses various responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough cleaning tasks, including the use of compressed air and other techniques for plant equipment.
  • Perform scrubbing, sanitizing, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping duties.
  • Manage waste disposal, clean spills, replace air fresheners, change light bulbs, secure doors, paint, maintain water coolers, and prepare facilities for events.
  • Maintain cleanliness in offices, restrooms, break rooms, and other areas.
  • Assist in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as required.
  • Apply insecticides and perform outdoor maintenance, including snow and leaf removal.
  • Engage in safety programs and utilize Personal Protective Equipment as necessary.
  • Document maintenance activities and monitor cleaning supplies, ensuring restocking in various areas.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks for moving and loading tasks.
  • Consistently meet efficiency and safety standards.
  • Follow supervisory instructions and maintain a tidy work area.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in other production roles as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to recognize colors and sizes, and accurately count and sort items.
  • In certain locations, certification to operate powered industrial trucks may be required.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning products and procedures, or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively within a team.
  • Capability to work independently and follow written or verbal instructions.

Education:

No formal education required.

Physical Requirements:

Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and working in confined spaces. The role requires lifting up to 90 lbs. and carrying up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings typical of an industrial laundry facility, involving large machinery and exposure to varying temperatures, odors, humidity, and dust.
