Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled EEG Technologist to join our team at CHI Health Immanuel. As an EEG Technologist, you will be responsible for performing standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings, calibrating and adjusting EEG apparatus, and selecting electrode combinations as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Perform standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings, including applying electrodes, calibrating equipment, and selecting electrode combinations.
  • Recognize and eliminate artifacts, describe normal and abnormal clinical manifestations, and use activating procedures such as hyperventilation and photic stimulation.
  • Abstract relevant information from patient records and additional information by questioning.
  • Perform difficult and/or unusual recording procedures, identify age-specific interventions, and incorporate them into daily practice.
  • Assist physicians with electromyography, place patients on examination tables, and explain procedures.
  • Keep equipment in clean operating condition, troubleshoot minor malfunctions, and initiate repair of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Practice strict ethical enforcement of protected medical and employee confidentiality, use confidential information only as needed, and transport patients safely.
  • Authorized to make entries in medical records, consistent with job duties and licensure.
  • Perform EMU monitoring and review under the supervision of the Epileptologist, make annotations and clips, and maintain EEG integrity.
  • Review interoperative monitoring, build montages, and set up interoperative and postop EEG monitoring, assist Epileptologists with cortical stimulations, and document and clip EEG data.
Qualifications
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
  • Registered Electroencephalographic (EEG) Tech certification through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists is required.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in all EEG and EMG diagnostic testing, with continuous use of reading skills and verbal communication skills, frequent use of written communication skills, and delegations, conflict resolution, individual and group interactions, time management, critical thinking, and stress management.
  • Ability to provide care to a diverse population of patients and communicate and work with people from various age-groups, social strata, and ethnic backgrounds.
