Key Responsibilities:


The Clinical Nurse Specialist is accountable for delivering safe and effective patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves providing direct patient care within the defined scope of practice.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will also lead and educate patients and their families, as well as supervise the activities of other nursing staff, while ensuring adherence to care standards in the Birthplace. The role requires the ability to respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for patients and visitors and utilizing the chain of command as necessary to ensure the well-being of mothers and newborns during the antepartum and postpartum periods.


Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and Training:
  • Possession of a current and valid state RN License.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.
  • ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire and must be maintained.
  • NRP certification required within 90 days of hire and must be maintained.
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring certification required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate is required within 12 months.
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate is preferred.
  • STABLE certification is preferred.
