GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Beauty Brand Consultant (BBC) plays a crucial role in driving sales for targeted brands under the Estee Lauder Companies (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging with customers to understand their unique needs and guiding them in selecting and purchasing products. All tasks are performed while upholding overall store standards, including cleanliness and inventory management. The BBC embodies the image, products, and ethos of Ulta Beauty and the brands they represent, which include MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder, to the Ulta Beauty clientele. This role supports the Experience Manager (EM) by focusing on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (customer service and team culture), and process (operational procedures and compliance standards). A genuine passion for the beauty industry, outstanding customer service skills, and the ability to learn and convey product knowledge are essential for this position.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Job Functions)

Performance

Achieve or surpass sales and client engagement goals for MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder brands, contributing to the overall store objectives related to retail and service sales, customer loyalty, and omni-channel sales as established by Ulta Beauty. Drive business growth by meeting sales targets, utilizing various strategies such as product services and data collection to enhance customer loyalty, attract new clients, and increase return rates. Communicate the advantages of the customer loyalty program, including credit options and the Ulta Beauty app, to clients on the sales floor. Ensure every customer receives exceptional service by fostering a welcoming environment, which includes greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service to their preferences, offering samples, recommending complementary products, and informing guests of current promotions and events. Build and maintain strong relationships with every customer to enhance brand sales for MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder. Handle sales transactions, refunds, and exchanges courteously. Possess comprehensive knowledge of MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder brands, their history, and expertise, sharing insights with customers and team members. Conduct makeup applications, skincare assessments, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and customer experience. Expand business opportunities by executing exclusive product demonstrations. Schedule appointments and assist in executing services and in-store events that provide an unparalleled customer experience while achieving sales goals for the MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder brands. Stay informed and actively participate in promotions and marketing initiatives across all categories and departments within the Ulta Beauty store. Utilize the provided clientele system to gather customer information; consistently follow up with clients post-purchase to build loyalty and grow the business. Take the initiative to remain knowledgeable about new and existing industry trends, products, and services to better assist customers. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

People

Foster an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and both internal and external customers. Build strong relationships with MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder brand partners through participation in required training and execution of in-store events and promotions. Address and resolve customer concerns in accordance with Ulta Beauty's philosophy and standards. Collaborate with managers and associates throughout the store to drive business growth. Attend seasonal seminars hosted by Education Executives and regularly engage in ongoing training, including brand and category education, to enable continuous professional development and enhance MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder brand sales performance.

Process

Understand and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies, procedures, and standards. Be knowledgeable about the opportunities related to MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder products within Ulta Beauty. Model brand image and expectations by adhering to the Ulta Beauty dress code, including wearing brand assets as directed. Drive sales by maintaining a well-stocked, organized, and hygienic work area, ensuring testers are available and meet hygiene standards. Uphold outstanding operational standards, including cleanliness of the MAC, Clinique, and Estee Lauder brand areas, as well as any additional assigned areas. Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory processes, and shipment processing. Protect company assets by adhering to loss prevention best practices while providing exceptional customer service. Execute other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High school diploma is preferred. Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by applicable state law.

Experience

Experience in cosmetics artistry is preferred.

Skills

Demonstrate a passion for and significant competency in sales, products, and customer service. Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to proactively address customer concerns and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Flexibility to work a schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Attend brand-sponsored training sessions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent mobility during shifts. Frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting during shifts. Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shifts. Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shifts.
