We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for handling and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating radiation detection and imaging equipment, and ensuring the proper preparation and positioning of patients for exams.
Key Responsibilities:- Assay, record, prepare, and administer radiopharmaceuticals
- Operate SPECT, SPECT/CT, and PET/CT imaging and radiation detection equipment
- Position and immobilize patients as needed, select proper imaging and data processing techniques
- Explain exams to patients, maintaining ethical standards and delivering patient care under the scope of license/training
- Maintain effective working relations and communication with departmental and other hospital personnel
- Calibrate and verify the operation of all equipment, notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed
- Perform quality control procedures on all equipment, complete paperwork and RIS functions as necessary
- Remain up to date on developments and trends in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment
- Supervise and teach Nuclear Medicine Technology students within the department
- Prepare equipment, room, and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use
- Assay, record, and dispose of radioactive waste and contamination
- Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology
- Valid Massachusetts license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Registered or eligible for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress
- Analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of radiation detection, imaging, and computer processing techniques, anatomy, and physiology, and medical terminology
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to frequent interruptions, roles, and work assignments, and patient emergencies
- Physical capability to lift, operate equipment, and work in a fast-paced environment
