Licensed Practical Nurse PRN Nights

Oceans Healthcare is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at our Hammond hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing common, well-defined health problems.
Responsibilities- Deliver exceptional patient care by collecting data, identifying deviations from normal, and assisting with reassessments as needed.
- Accurately document patient findings and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
- Implement nursing care interventions based on individualized treatment plans and accepted standards of practice.
- Conduct bedside laboratory tests, wound care, and provide comfort and assistance with ADLs.
- Promote patient coping, adaptation, and problem-solving skills related to illness and stressors.
- Provide supportive communication and culturally acceptable interventions, documenting special needs.
- Administer medications safely and accurately, communicating with patients about their medication regimen.
- Follow up on patient care responsibilities, communicating with other disciplines to ensure continuity of care.
- Utilize nursing knowledge to enhance evidence-based practice and provide leadership as a preceptor to new staff.
To be successful in this role, you must have a current, valid, and active license to practice as a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse in the state where you are employed. A high school diploma or GED is also required. One year of inpatient hospital experience is strongly preferred.
You must be able to work in a high-stress environment, assess potential patient escalation, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers. You should also be highly organized, have an understanding and sensitivity to serve culturally diverse and special needs populations, and be versed in basic knowledge of normal physical and emotional development.
