We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, providing individualized supervision and instruction, and collaborating with classroom teachers to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere
  • Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavioral intervention strategies
  • Provide instruction and support to students during lessons, ensuring fidelity of instruction and utilizing strategies to assist with student learning
  • Monitor student progress, communicate with classroom teachers, and provide recommendations for interventions
  • Manage student behavior, upholding the Ombudsman philosophy and policies, and collaborating with classroom teachers for consistency
  • Support students with academic issues, providing encouragement and working with students to improve their skills
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation on student behavior and progress
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test
  • Associate degree or higher in an education or closely related field preferred
  • Licensed as or have the ability to obtain a paraprofessional, paraeducator, teaching assistant, or similar credential preferred
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an alternative or special education program setting
  • Prior experience working with individuals with autism spectrum-related disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, and/or challenging behaviors preferred
