Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Penn Medicine. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our clinical staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses in providing clinic services, including vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing, immunizations, and documentation of results.
  • Perform and document blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and other screening tests as directed by a physician or nurse, including immunizations.
  • Gather basic patient information.
  • Assist nurses in processing documents and files, including data entry into Quadramed/QCPR and e-MDs.
  • Assist nurses and physicians in performing clerical duties.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with other staff to provide high-level customer service.
  • Produce routine program and information reports.
  • Provide reception services, including answering the phone, greeting patients, registering, and notifying clinical staff of patient arrivals.
  • Monitor, organize, and create lists for medical supplies needed to be ordered.
  • Create and maintain par levels for all office supplies.
  • Keep stock areas neat and organized.
  • Keep the department neat and organized to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Develop and deliver special assigned projects.
  • Utilize time efficiently in the performance of assigned administrative functions.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for the efficient utilization of products, resources, supplies, equipment, and office space.
  • Engage in effective communications with all staff to ensure smooth operations, effective problem-solving, and enhanced team interactions.
  • Support customer service and performance improvement goals of the department.
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality.
  • Participate in unit compliance related to established standards.
  • Complete all required PHCS annual competencies, including department competencies.
  • Accountable for improving patient care through adherence to patient safety and quality standards, regulations, and best practices.

Credentials:

  • MA-AAMA, MA-AMT, MA-NCCT, or MA-NHA certification required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required. Hearing Conservation and Spirometry preferred.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license required.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting in a similar position is preferable.
