Position Summary
The role involves initiating, approving, auditing, and reconciling transactions within the MSU Kuali financial system across various accounts to support designated units and responsibilities within the Business & Financial Services department of Student Life & Engagement. The position requires responding to and assisting business partners with their accounting needs and operational requests, overseeing part-time staff, generating and analyzing financial reports, and providing recommendations for continuous improvements. Additionally, support is provided to functions within Culinary Services and the Auxiliary Sports Group, which includes Forest Akers Golf Courses, MSU Tennis Facility, Breslin Center, Spartan Spirit Shops, and MSU Recreation Sports.
Work is conducted in a designated office building. The position allows for the possibility of remote work two days a week after a satisfactory six-month evaluation, with occasional on-site requirements during peak business periods or special events.
All positions within the Division of Student Life and Engagement are classified as critical status. In the event of a university closure or emergency, individuals in this role are expected to make reasonable efforts to report to work as scheduled.
Individuals with an approved remote work agreement may be called upon to work on-site to support the MSU community.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess knowledge equivalent to that obtained through the completion of a four-year degree in Accounting, along with one to three years of progressively responsible experience in financial statement preparation, general ledger accounting, and budgeting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
