Position Overview
The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is looking for a dedicated Audiologist. The successful candidate will possess experience in delivering thorough diagnosis and treatment for patients with hearing impairments in an outpatient setting within a dynamic, high-volume Neurotology/Otology clinic. A strong candidate will enhance the patient experience through compassionate care and teamwork. Candidates should have a keen interest in working with surgical patients in an outpatient environment and a desire to collaborate closely with surgeons and learners in an academic context. Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and manage a high patient volume, problem-solving skills to tailor clinical procedures to individual patient needs, and the capacity to remain calm under pressure are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts and interprets audiological evaluations and assessments.
- Evaluates candidates with hearing loss for hearing aids, osseointegrated devices, and cochlear implants; provides fitting, programming, and audiological rehabilitation to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Offers counseling to individuals with auditory disorders, their families, and other service providers regarding the nature of the disorder and its management.
- Prepares reports and integrates audiological results with other diagnostic information, including educational, medical, social, and behavioral data.
- Maintains professional certification by fulfilling all continuing education requirements.
- May be required to dispense hearing aids to patients.
- Ensures accurate, complete, and timely documentation.
- May conduct and interpret vestibular evaluations.
- May perform electrophysiology assessments and serve as a preceptor to Audiology students.
- Oversees the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Doctoral degree in Audiology.
- No prior experience required.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas State Licensure as an Audiologist from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).
