The Nurse Residency Program at MedStar Health is designed to support new graduate nurses as they transition to professional practice. Our program provides a comprehensive framework for delivering high-quality patient care, with a focus on safety, effectiveness, and competence.

Our experienced clinical educators facilitate both classroom and clinical orientation components, providing participants with individualized attention and support throughout the residency program.

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have:

  • A degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing (ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL)
  • A valid Registered Nurse license in Washington, D.C.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

For new graduates hired with an Associate degree, employment with MedStar Washington Hospital Center is contingent upon enrollment into an accredited BSN program within one year of employment, and continuing matriculation in the program to achieve a BSN within 5 years of the program start date.
