Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Cardiovascular Lab team at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. As a Staff Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-intra-post procedure nursing care for adult cardiac catheterization procedures, including angioplasty, coronary stents, and pericardiocentesis.
  • Transport patients to/from pre-post recovery and/or inpatient units.
  • Administer intravenous and oral medications to patients.
  • Manage patients under procedural sedation.
  • Operate physiologic recorders and printers to monitor electrocardiogram and hemodynamic data.
  • Actively monitor patient vital signs during procedures and participate in life-saving measures as needed.
  • Ensure adequate supply levels in procedural rooms and stock as needed.
  • Demonstrate competency in angioplasty, coronary stents, Swan Ganz/right heart cath, pericardiocentesis, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, and recognition of cardiac rhythms.
  • Apply nursing theory to patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide seamless patient care.
  • Perform patient care according to departmental, divisional, and unit policies and procedures.
  • Document interventions and patient responses.
  • Precept new staff as directed by the Nursing Manager.
Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, or higher is required.
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • General computer skills, including proficiency in managing multiple databases, are required.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is highly desired.
  • Active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
