Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CT Technologist Nights to join our team at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital. As a CT Technologist Nights, you will be responsible for operating Cat-Scan equipment, positioning patients to produce diagnostic radiographs, and performing related duties.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CT equipment to make radiographs, scans of designated portions of the body, and adjust equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination.
  • Perform reconstruction and special processing of data, evaluate completed radiographs/scans for positioning, technique, and adequacy of examination, and closely observe patients, perform first aid as necessary, and confer with physicians when requested exams appear at odds with the patient's condition.
  • Ensure that all exams are entered appropriately, make edits as required, move exam to taken status, and verify for the radiologist to read with all required documents.
  • Record and maintain exam information in the CT log, properly record radiation dose into Meditech, and report outliers as required.
  • Perform QC functions as required, properly document all medications used in the EMAR, receive verbal orders for examinations from a responsible practitioner, and demonstrate customer principles and behaviors appropriately.
  • Review current developments in trends and techniques of diagnostic CT, including dose reduction, by completing TipTV education, reading technical journals, participating in in-service education programs, attending conferences, etc., on an annual basis.
  • Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross contamination, maintain orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination-free condition of rooms, equipment, and personnel.
  • Review the patient's chart to obtain pertinent clinical history, correlative test results, and laboratory data and document this information for the Radiologist.
  • Adhere to prescribed standards of Radiation Safety, participate in the Quality Improvement and safety programs, and ensure appropriate recording of hours worked, adhering to hospital policy.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT) (R) required; (CT) required within 12 months of hire.
  • State of Florida Registered Radiologic Technologist.
  • Associate Degree in Radiological Technology required.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and CT concepts to include: head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, MSK, CTA.
  • Knowledge of CT invasive procedures to include biopsy, drainages, etc., and basic knowledge about supplies used such as catheter and biopsy needles.
  • Knowledge of contrast administration and contraindications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection concepts and techniques.
