We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to join our Intensive English Program at St. Mary's University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English language courses to international students and contributing to the development of our ESL curriculum.
Key Responsibilities- Teach English language courses to international students, promoting effective communication and language skills.
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans, incorporating current second-language acquisition trends and best practices.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and submit course grades in a timely manner.
- Participate in monthly faculty meetings and contribute to the development of our ESL curriculum.
- Use technology and software to deliver effective instruction and support student learning.
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Complete mandatory performance evaluation measures and Title IX training.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or higher preferred.
- ESL certification (TESOL, CELTA, TEFL) and two years of teaching experience at the university level.
- Experience with the CANVAS learning management system and knowledge of current second-language acquisition trends.
- Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and reliably, with a strong commitment to student success.
- Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
