We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Coach I-Math to join our team at Waukesha County Technical College. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality academic coaching services to students in Mathematics, assisting them in understanding and mastering course content, assignments, and projects.
Key Responsibilities- Provide academic coaching services to students in Mathematics, focusing on developing effective study techniques, time management, note taking, test preparation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarize students with available educational resources, including the library, online materials, and academic support services.
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources, such as academic advisors, career services, or counseling.
- Provide communication and feedback to instructors and academic support staff regarding student progress and common areas of difficulty.
- Stay current with effective academic coaching techniques, specific discipline content, and pedagogical trends.
- Assist with program recruitment efforts, such as semi-annual Open Houses events.
- Strong knowledge of Mathematics on at least a baccalaureate level.
- Understanding of pedagogy and knowledge of working with students with learning differences.
- Ability to work effectively with students, both in one-on-one and group instruction situations.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills, including oral, written, technical, and non-technical information, and listening.
- Strong customer service skills, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and/or with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics; Master's degree preferred.
- Training and teaching experience in an educational setting required.
- Previous teaching experience required.
