Mathematics Academic Coach

We are seeking a highly skilled Mathematics Academic Coach to join our team at Waukesha County Technical College. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality academic coaching services to students in Mathematics, assisting them in understanding and mastering course content, assignments, and projects.

• Provide academic coaching services to students in Mathematics, assisting them in developing effective study techniques, time management, note taking, test preparation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarize students with available educational resources, including the library, online materials, and academic support services.
• Refer students to appropriate campus resources, such as academic advisors, career services, or counseling.
• Provide communication and feedback to instructors and academic support staff regarding student progress and common areas of difficulty.
• Stay current with effective academic coaching techniques, specific discipline content, and pedagogical trends.
• Provide assistance in training new coaches.
• May assist with program recruitment efforts, such as semi-annual Open Houses events.

• Strong knowledge of Mathematics on at least a baccalaureate level.
• Understanding of pedagogy and knowledge of working with students with learning differences.
• Ability to work effectively with students, both in one-on-one and group instruction situations.
• Ability to think critically and apply problem-solving practices.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills, including oral, written, technical, and non-technical information, and listening.
• Strong customer service skills, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and/or with minimal supervision.
• Basic level of proficiency with computer software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and/or publishing, and learning management systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics; Master's degree preferred.
• Training and teaching experience in an educational setting required. Previous teaching experience required.
