Staff Attorney - Bilingual

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Staff Attorney to join our team at South Carolina Legal Services. As a Staff Attorney, you will provide high-quality legal services to low-income individuals and families, advocating for their rights and interests in a wide range of civil legal practice areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and representation to clients in civil legal matters, including community economic development, consumer protection, education, employment, family law, federal income tax, housing, probate, public benefits, and migrant farmworkers.
  • Work collaboratively with other advocates and agencies serving the low-income community to advance the organization's mission.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and court procedures to provide effective representation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, community partners, and other stakeholders to promote the organization's mission and goals.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Member of the SC Bar
  • Complete written and oral fluency in both English and Spanish
  • Litigation and clinical experience preferred but not required if committed to public interest/poverty law
  • Ability to work effectively with low-income, underserved, rural, and diverse clients and communities
  • Excellent relationship-building, leadership, and research skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
