Position Overview:

The Vehicle Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of vehicles and equipment.

This role encompasses the safe and efficient upkeep of vehicles, light trucks, grounds maintenance equipment, and law enforcement vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct repairs on braking systems, exhaust systems, and related components.
  • Perform engine tuning and emergency roadside repairs.
  • Change and repair tires, and conduct oil changes and lubrication services.
  • Make informed maintenance decisions based on established protocols.
  • Diagnose vehicle and equipment issues through inspections and testing.
  • Test vehicles post-repair to ensure quality and functionality.
  • Overhaul engines, transmissions, and various mechanical systems.
  • Execute preventative maintenance and in-service inspections as required.
  • Demonstrate maintenance techniques to junior staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities using a computerized system.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by training in automotive and equipment repair, along with four years of relevant experience in mechanical service and repair.

A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B) is required, with a preference for a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) to be obtained within one year of hire.

Additional certifications such as a Class 7 PA State Inspection License and Automotive Air Conditioning Certification (EPA 609) are preferred, with the expectation to acquire them within six months of employment.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in the use of mechanic's tools and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance standards and safety practices.
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently and effectively while ensuring safety.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and operating machinery.

This position requires a commitment to safety and quality service, ensuring that all work performed meets the highest standards.
