Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist

Position Overview:
The University of Kansas Health System is actively seeking a dedicated and clinically focused cardiologist specializing in Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplantation to enhance our esteemed Division of Advanced Heart Failure Therapeutics & Cardiac Transplantation. Our division comprises five ABIM Board-certified specialists in CHF, VAD, and Heart Transplantation, all of whom have received training from prestigious institutions. Additionally, our team includes two highly skilled cardiovascular surgeons.
Program Highlights:
The Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Program at KU has experienced significant growth over the past several years, performing between 40-47 heart transplants and 45-50 LVADs annually. Our goal is to expand this program to achieve 60-80 heart transplants and 50-70 LVADs per year within the next few years. The program enjoys robust institutional support, ensuring adequate nursing and physician extender resources, as well as essential infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in clinical practice and educational activities at the University of Kansas Health System, with additional satellite clinic locations and accredited outpatient diagnostic centers.
- Provide consultative cardiology services, focusing on complex heart failure management, pre- and post-VAD care, pre- and post-cardiac transplant management, and non-invasive cardiac imaging.
- Participate in clinical and research initiatives across the spectrum of cardiovascular medicine.
- Contribute to educational conferences and academic activities.
- Hold an academic appointment.
Qualifications:
- Board Certified/Eligible by the ABIM in Advanced Heart Failure & Heart Transplantation.
- Completion of an AHFTC Fellowship Program.
- Demonstrated energy, motivation, and collegiality, with a strong commitment to the education and training of cardiovascular fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and administrative personnel.
- Eligibility for licensure in Kansas and Missouri.
