Customer Service Representative Job Description

Mechanics Bank is seeking a highly skilled Customer Service Representative to join our team at our Orinda Branch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, handling cash transactions, and promoting bank products and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine teller transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, transfers, and transactions received through the mail or the night drop.
  • Maintain and balance a cash supply for transactions performed, adhering to all cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Provide exemplary customer service, representing the Bank and its products and services with pride and enthusiasm.
  • Identify customer needs, provide information on products and services, and build awareness of new products and services to capitalize on business referral opportunities.
  • Review customer transactions for red flags and fraudulent items, maintaining awareness of current criminal scams used against banking customers.
  • Assist customers with account reconcilement, copies of statements and checks, check orders, account closure, and safe deposit box entrances.
  • Gather data and process various reports and forms to ensure compliance with Bank policies and procedures, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, and regulatory compliance programs.
Requirements:
  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year cash handling experience required in a customer-facing role or experience in a banking environment with basic knowledge of bank deposit products and services required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer service.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions using available information, and collaborate effectively as a team member.
  • Basic knowledge of Bank deposit products and services.
  • Ability to understand customer loan requests and make appropriate referrals.
