Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for performing maintenance crafts work, including plumbing, pipefitting, welding, machining, boiler making, and gear component assembly. You will work independently with minimal supervision to maintain and repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, and machines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate machine tools to perform maintenance activities
  • Fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines
  • Lays out work from drawings, sketches, and written specifications
  • Rebuilds gearing components on Komatsu Electric Shovels and Epiroc Diesel Drills
  • Develops solutions for various maintenance situations
  • Completes Work Orders and other maintenance documentation
  • Trains and mentors maintenance employees
Requirements
  • Four (4) years' experience in the crafts of Machinist, Line Boring, Welding, Boiler Maker
  • Proficiency in welding/cutting
  • Ability to operate a 11", 20", 24", and 32" Lathe, Milling Machine, Horizontal Milling Machine, Marvel Band Saw, Drill Press
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience working on Komatsu Electric Shovels and Epiroc Diesel Drills
Working Conditions
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis
  • Employee will be required to work in environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
  • Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation
