Apply Today Where You Will Work Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode. (This posting represents multiple vacancies in a variety of fixed operational department areas.)Level 4 - Processing Diagnostic MechanicDescription:Highly skilled mechanic who safely performs components of diagnostic, maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of fixed plant operational equipment and related systems.Perform system troubleshooting, maintenance and component removal, repair and installation of jaw and gyratory crushers, vibratory screens, conveyors, dust suppression/collection systems, mobile conveying systems, pump, pit dewatering, hydraulic systems, etc.Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance such as changing filters in the dust collection systems, checking screens, seals for leakage, oil levels and lubrication systemsPreform the removal, repair and installation of piping and pump components, such as: valves, expansion joints and check valves.Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as neededResponsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspectionsTrain and mentor other employeesPerform advanced welding and fabricationMay operate mobile equipment such as: Forklifts, cranes, and boom trucksPerform as a Fill-in Supervisor as requiredPerform other duties as requiredLevel 3: Processing Repair EmployeeDescription:Skilled Mechanic who, under supervision, safely performs diagnostic, maintenance, installation and repair of fixed plant operational equipment and related systems.Assists with and performs component removal, repair and installation of jaw and gyratory crushers, vibratory screens, conveyors, dust suppression/collection systems, mobile conveying, pump, pit, dewatering, hydraulic systems, etc.Performs mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance such as changing filters in the dust collection systems, checking screens, seals for leakage, oil levels and lubrication systemsPerform the removal, repair and installation of piping/pump components, such as: valves, expansion joints and check valves.Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspectionsMay perform welding and fabricationMay operate mobile equipment such as: forklifts, cranes, and boom trucksPerforms housekeeping dutiesPerforms other duties as requiredQualificationsLevel 4 - Processing Diagnostic MechanicMinimum Qualifications:Two (2) years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.FPM Diagnostic Mechanic I: The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while achieving 35% score on a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety. Must be able to demonstrate proficient basic welding skills.Preferred Qualifications:High School diploma or GEDLevel 3: Processing Repair EmployeeMinimum QualificationsOne (1) year of experience in fixed plant operational mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenanceMust have completed academic and competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees) and have experience demonstrating required mechanical aptitude. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
