We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated District Educational Assistant to join our team at the Stoughton Area School District. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the educational needs of all students are met.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teaching staff in planning and implementing instruction to individual and/or small groups of students under the supervision of a teacher.
- Prepare classroom and individual student materials for instruction.
- Provide personal care and assist students in mastering self-help skills such as toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, etc. when needed.
- Read student IEPs and seek clarification of contents when needed under the supervision of the special education teacher.
- Work cooperatively with students, families, staff, and administrators to ensure a positive educational environment.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual student behavior plans.
- Promote acceptance of differences with students, staff, and community.
- Effectively problem-solve issues of conflict.
- May assist in the implementation of community-based and non-school vocational instruction.
- Perform clerical tasks as necessary.
- Must have a willingness to work with all students.
- Must be eligible for state certification as a special education EA.
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have or obtain upon employment, first aid and CPR certification.
- Must have effective communication skills (oral and written) in order to work effectively with parents, students, and staff.
- General knowledge of computer applications in the classroom is preferred.
- Completion of 2 years of study at an institution of higher education or an associates degree preferred.
- Complies with the absence policies of the District.
