Job Summary

Chenega Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Obstetrician/Gynecology Locum Tenens Physician to join our team at Claremore Indian Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, deliver exceptional service, and contribute to the success of our organization.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality care to patients, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and human dignity
  • Provide diagnostic and evaluative techniques, including x-ray and ultrasound visualization of the fetus
  • Examine patients, make diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and prescribe treatment for conditions, diseases, and injuries of the female reproductive system
  • Perform surgical procedures on site, in accordance with physician credentials and privileges
  • Participate in back-up call activities as scheduled
  • Take patient histories, perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic studies
  • Dictate or write inpatient histories and physicals, and write initial orders for patients requiring admission
  • Review and co-sign mid-level provider charts referred for consultation, as needed
  • Provide consultation to mid-level providers, either verbally or through direct patient re-evaluation
  • Offer medical advice by phone, on a limited basis, for patients who call in
  • Generate legible documentation in the patient record, using SOAP format
  • Complete paperwork, such as patient referrals, work release slips, and insurance forms
  • Follow inpatient OB/GYN patients and perform progress notes
  • Provide consultation to the Emergency Room healthcare providers, as needed
  • Recommend and refer patients to other Indian Health Service providers and Contract Health Service vendors, within IHS guidelines
  • Document services using the electronic medical record system and complete administrative paperwork in a timely manner
Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States
  • Board certification in or board eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency in OB/GYN
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Fluent English language skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with IHS personnel and patients
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills, and social sensitivity to relate constructively to patients of Native American communities
  • Maintain standards of personal hygiene and grooming, compatible with the expectations of the on-site project officer
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
