Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Examining Clerk/Technician to join our team at the Internal Revenue Service. As a Tax Examining Clerk/Technician, you will be responsible for researching and analyzing tax issues, verifying and adjusting taxpayer accounts, and securing payment of delinquent taxes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze tax issues, including obtaining applicable returns, schedules, and information for correction of accounts and records
  • Verify, analyze, and adjust taxpayer accounts, including determining financial, levy source, adjustment, and uncollectible information
  • Secure payment of delinquent taxes and filing of delinquent returns
  • Advise taxpayers of appeal procedures and provide technical assistance on systemic problems and inconsistencies in IRMs
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. This experience must have provided you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

Examples of qualifying experience include experience performing a variety of miscellaneous tasks involving researching and processing financial documents, reviewing information and determining corrective action on accounts, researching for missing/unclear accounting information, and reviewing financial documents submitted for completeness.
