Job Title: Substitute NurseJoin our team as a Substitute Nurse and make a difference in the lives of students and staff in the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.
About the Role:We are seeking a qualified Substitute Nurse to provide direct care to students and staff in our schools. As a Substitute Nurse, you will be responsible for implementing district school health programs and providing services to meet the needs of students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct care to students and staff, utilizing school health protocols and care plans established by the district nurse (RN).
- Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures.
- Take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure) and communicate findings to required district staff and parents.
- Contribute to and implement individualized student health care plans as established by the district nurse (RN).
- Communicate with parents regarding individual students and collaborate with other professionals regarding implementation of health-related Individual Education Plan (IEP) items.
- Contact local emergency services according to established district health services protocols.
- Valid Texas certification
- Acceptable background check and fingerprinting results
- Knowledge/Certification of basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
- Ability to use personal computer and software
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Two years' experience in a health-related position; student contact in an educational setting preferred
Maintain emotional control under stress. Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.
