Substitute Nurse

Join our team as a Substitute Nurse and make a difference in the lives of students and staff in the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.

We are seeking a qualified Substitute Nurse to provide direct care to students and staff in our schools. As a Substitute Nurse, you will be responsible for implementing district school health programs and providing services to meet the needs of students and staff.

• Provide direct care to students and staff, utilizing school health protocols and care plans established by the district nurse (RN).
• Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures.
• Take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure) and communicate findings to required district staff and parents.
• Contribute to and implement individualized student health care plans as established by the district nurse (RN).
• Communicate with parents regarding individual students and collaborate with other professionals regarding implementation of health-related Individual Education Plan (IEP) items.
• Contact local emergency services according to established district health services protocols.

• Valid Texas certification
• Acceptable background check and fingerprinting results
• Knowledge/Certification of basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
• Ability to use personal computer and software
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
• Two years' experience in a health-related position; student contact in an educational setting preferred
