Electrical Switchgear Repair Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Switchgear Repair Specialist to join our team at Integrated Power Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing electrical testing, completing preventative maintenance, and repairing electrical switchgear and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret electrical single line, three line, and control drawings
  • Follow company procedures for requisitioning and charging materials and parts
  • Repair and/or replace electronic components on associated power distribution equipment
  • Verify repairs using various start-up testing procedures
  • Operate specialized equipment, including megohmmeter, high-voltage insulation testers, multimeters, and other types of equipment
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment
  • Complete required paperwork and test reports for each job accurately and on a timely basis
  • Keep work area neat and clean
  • Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor
Requirements
  • Associated degree in electronics or equivalent on-the-job training
  • Ability to test solid-state protective relays desired
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Strong business communication skills and ability to promote professional image
  • Knowledge of principles of electricity, AC and DC motors, and motor application
  • Ability to clearly communicate via verbal and written methods
  • NETA and NISET certification preferred, but not required
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 lbs
