The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Researcher / Scientist (Analytical Development) to primarily focus on Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS). This position will involve analyzing samples, developing, and improving analytical methods, including HPLC/UPLC-based assays, mass spectrometry (MS), CE iCE3, UV-Vis, and glycosylation analysis assays.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize HPLC/UPLC-based assays, capillary electrophoresis-based methods using PA800+ and iCE3, mass spectrometry (MS) techniques, protein concentration assays, and binding affinity assays to support structural and biochemical characterization of antibody products.
  • Ensure the laboratory and analytical instruments are well maintained and troubleshoot potential issues.
  • May work with external contract labs to ensure sample submission, testing, and data analysis are on track.
  • Prepare and review analytical procedures, protocols, and study reports as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the investigation and resolution of out-of-specification (OOS) and out-of-trend (OOT) testing results as needed.


Requirements:

  • Degree (B.S., M.S.) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific field. Preferred qualification is minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience for M.S., and 6 years for B.S. level candidates. Candidates with equivalent combination of academic achievements and industry experience will be considered.
  • Relevant experience in analytical methods such as mass spectrometry (e.g., LC-MS, MALDI-TOF), HPLC (SEC, RP, IEX, HILIC), capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS, icIEF), UV/Vis, SDS-PAGE.
  • Experience with forced degradation studies, including the design, execution, and data interpretation, specifically for monoclonal antibodies.


Role Details:

This is a contract opportunity expected to be long-term and requiring onsite work in the Redwood City area.
