About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Truck Mechanic to join our team at MID-ATLANTIC WASTE SYSTEMS. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our heavy truck fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements, to ensure our trucks are in top condition.
  • Diagnostic and Repair: Use advanced diagnostic equipment to identify and repair complex issues with our trucks, including hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and engine components.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and perform preventative maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including work orders and inventory management.
  • Collaboration and Training: Work closely with our service manager to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies, and participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2 years of experience in heavy truck maintenance and repair, with a focus on hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and engine components.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. automotive technology, diesel mechanics) preferred.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license and DOT physical required; certifications in areas such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations preferred.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Tools and Equipment: Must have own tools and be able to lift and move heavy equipment and materials.
