The City of Englewood is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Library Associate to join our team. As a key member of our Adult Services department, you will provide exceptional reference and readers advisory services to patrons, utilizing your expertise in library systems and online resources. Your excellent communication skills and ability to work independently will enable you to effectively manage time and priorities, ensuring seamless interactions with patrons, staff, and community groups.
Key Responsibilities- Provide reference and readers advisory services at the reference services desk, utilizing automated library systems and online resources to connect patrons to print, non-print, and digital resources.
- Offer general assistance in the use of computer equipment and software application use, ensuring patrons have the necessary skills to navigate our digital offerings.
- Interact extensively with patrons, staff, partner agencies, and community groups, providing exceptional customer service and resolving concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete opening and closing procedures, ensuring the library is prepared for daily operations and maintaining a safe environment for staff and patrons.
- May assist in the planning and implementation of services, programs, and special events for adults, promoting the library's collection, services, and programs to the community.
- Bachelor's Degree in any field required.
- 2 years of customer service experience required; 1 year library and/or bookstore experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, effectively managing time and priorities to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, and maintain a flexible attitude to meet the needs of the library and its patrons.
