Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to join our team at the City of Copperas Cove.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the budget and fiscal records of the City.
  • Prepare and make presentations to City staff, boards, City Council, civic groups, and the general public.
  • Review project budget and accounting for long-range financial plans to ensure funds are allocated, budgeted, and accounted for and encumbered properly.
  • Assist in the development of short and long-range plans, gather and interpret data for studies, reports, and recommendations, and coordinate department activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
  • Prepare, review, and process budget transfers and amendments.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.
  • Assist the Finance Department in the City's annual audit and the comprehensive annual financial report and single audit report.
  • Play an integral role in the year-end closing of the City's books, including assisting in the preparation of year-end reports.
Requirements
  • One to two (1-2) years of progressively responsible governmental budget, finance, or accounting work.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to create and manipulate Excel PivotTables, VLOOKUP formulas, TRIM formulas, nested IF statements, INDEX/MATCH, and Chart and Graph functions.
  • Knowledge of modern governmental budgeting and financial planning principles and practices, including internal control procedures and management information systems.
  • Knowledge of office automation and computerized financial applications, governmental accounting, payroll and accounts payable functions, and budgetary, accounting, and reporting systems.
