Role SummaryThe Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in the operating room, assisting surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures. This position requires the ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment, utilizing strong communication skills to ensure optimal patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare for surgical procedures by assessing patient needs and reviewing relevant medical information.
- Develop and implement a tailored plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Ensure all necessary surgical supplies and instruments are ready and functioning prior to procedures.
- Document all aspects of surgical procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols throughout the surgical process.
- Assist in the turnover of operating rooms between cases, ensuring cleanliness and proper supply levels.
- Participate in the training and orientation of new surgical staff and students as needed.
Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Minimum Experience: One year of experience in an operating room setting
Preferred Experience: One year in a Level 1 trauma operating room
Licenses/Certifications Required: Current RN license in the state of practice, BLS certification, ACLS certification
Hours per Week: 36 hours
On-Call Requirement: Yes
