South Middleton School District is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Supervisor of Special Education to lead our special education programs. As a key member of our administrative team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs for students in grades K-12.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and manage special education programs, including the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws and regulations
- Develop and manage the special education budget, including local, federal, and consortium funds
- Recruit, select, and assign special education professionals and paraprofessional staff
- Attend conferences and conventions to stay current on special education trends and best practices
- Collaborate with other administrators to develop and implement cost-effective programs
- Present special education programs to parents and professionals to acquaint them with services offered
- Valid certificate as a Supervisor of Special Education, Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility, or Principal
- At least five years of prior experience in special education
- Excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal skills
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Leadership skills
- Supervisor skills
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of curriculum standards
This position has a mixed setting, with equal parts office and building and district campus time. The physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
