About the Role

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a highly skilled Grant/Contract Officer to join our team in the Office of Research Administration. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the post-award administration of research awards and clinical trials, ensuring compliance with funding agency regulations and institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned portfolios, preparing and submitting invoices and financial reports, reviewing transactions and expenditures, and providing guidance to principal investigators on administrative and fiscal compliance.
  • Conduct reviews, analysis, and interpretation of award terms and conditions, identifying financial issues and recommending solutions.
  • Monitor changes in policies of funding agencies and communicate financial information to the research community and General Accounting.
  • Maintain timely execution of portfolio management activities, including preparation and submission of financial reports, monthly/quarterly invoicing, expenditure review, journal entries, and cash collection.
  • Review and analyze accounts/projects to ensure costs are reasonable, allowable, allocable, and consistent with sponsor terms and conditions.
  • Provide notification to management regarding accounts not in compliance with funding limitations and provide deficit reports for distribution to Cedars-Sinai departments.
  • Ensure financial closeout of awards as required by CSHS and agency policies, maintaining records in the Archive File as required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sciences, or Liberal Arts strongly preferred.
  • One to two years of demonstrated ability in independent financial administration of research grants and contracts in a central administration office or equivalent.
  • Entry-level working knowledge of granting agency policies and institutional purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems.
  • Ability to analyze problem situations, make independent decisions, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail required for developing and managing research portfolios, projecting expenditures, and recommending financial compliance solutions.
