Key Responsibilities
The primary objective of the Multi-Competent Imaging Technologist role is to deliver Radiology services, utilizing x-ray technology, magnetic resonance imaging, and advanced computer processing techniques for both inpatients and outpatients at University Hospital Newark. This position involves conducting radiographic examinations to visualize vascular structures for analysis and/or therapeutic procedures as requested by licensed practitioners. The technologist is expected to exercise professional judgment throughout their duties and maintain a demeanor that aligns with the values and mission of University Hospital Newark.
This role requires collaboration and effective communication with patients, physicians, nurses, administrators, and other hospital staff, ensuring all interactions are professional and adhere to the institution's established guidelines. The technologist must perform procedures in accordance with NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) standards and the principles of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a valid NJ Department of Environmental Protection Diagnostic Radiography license and possess current ARRT certification or be ARRT eligible. If ARRT eligible, certification must be obtained within one year of employment and maintained throughout the duration of employment. A minimum of two years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology is required. Proficiency in computer applications is essential. Additionally, the successful candidate must maintain valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR from the American Heart Association.
Candidates must be able to successfully complete a medical evaluation and a respirator fit test, and must be able to wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask in compliance with PEOSHA standards as a condition of employment. Annual Respirator Fit Testing is mandatory.
