Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Per Diem Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a respiratory therapist, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and make a meaningful impact on their lives.

About the Role

This is a per diem / prn job in Cudahy, Wisconsin, offering flexible scheduling and competitive compensation. Our ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory therapy processes to support patient assessment and treatment, utilizing a variety of skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlates blood gases and electrolytes.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues and assist physicians with bedside or other procedures as applicable to facility.
  • Administer medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols as prescribed.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and functionality, troubleshooting issues as necessary and identifying the need for service and/or repair.
  • Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
  • Facilitate clinical problem-solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
Requirements
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months OR active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1, 2023.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program, with a minimum of an associate degree.
