We are seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for performing clinical laboratory procedures, examinations, and tests pursuant to established protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Test Performance and Quality Control
- Perform assays of biological specimens according to established policies and procedures, utilizing specific instruments, equipment, reagents, and techniques.
- Review and report results, maintaining proper documentation of action taken, and alerting supervisors to problems and/or unusual or critical results as they occur.
- Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Maintain equipment in operating condition by performing routine preventive maintenance, including start-up and shut-down procedures of major instruments.
- Troubleshoot equipment as necessary to correct malfunctions.
- Quality Assurance and Documentation
- Perform and document Quality Control Procedures and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual.
- Follow the Laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the Laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
- Specimen Handling and Reporting
- Treat proficiency test samples with respect to receipt and analysis in the same manner as patients' specimens.
- Perform special test procedures as directed.
- Problem-Solving and Communication
- Identify, correct, and report to management problems that may adversely affect test performance or results reporting.
- Document corrective action taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Current License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 0-1 years of technical experience required.
- Oncology/Hematology experience.
