JOB TITLE: Educator

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  2. Valid certification from the State of Alabama in the relevant subject area.
  3. Must fulfill the highly qualified criteria as established by the Alabama State Department of Education.
  4. Must comply with background clearance protocols as mandated by Alabama laws and State Board of Education guidelines.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Designee

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Understands and actively supports the enforcement of school policies, administrative guidelines, and Board of Education regulations.
  2. Engages in the smooth and effective functioning of the school and district, including participation in meetings, discussions, and committee roles.
  3. Accepts no additional employment that may hinder the effective performance of teaching duties.
  4. Adheres to the ethical standards for educators as outlined in the established Code of Ethics.
  5. Implements the curriculum approved by the State Board of Education and utilizes instructional materials sanctioned by the local Board of Education. Other resources must receive principal approval.
  6. Aims to cultivate student values such as citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism through teaching and school activities.
  7. Arrives for duty at least fifteen minutes prior to the start of school and remains at least ten minutes after dismissal.
  8. Conducts classes as assigned in designated locations and times.
  9. Creates and sustains a classroom atmosphere conducive to effective learning, tailored to the interests and maturity of students.
  10. Establishes and maintains appropriate classroom discipline and assists in promoting discipline throughout the school.
  11. Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request from the principal.
  12. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, board policy, and administrative regulations.
  13. Regularly assesses student progress in accordance with established procedures.
  14. Seeks assistance from specialists as necessary and makes appropriate referrals.
  15. Takes necessary precautions to ensure student safety and safeguard all educational materials and facilities.
  16. Makes reasonable provisions to be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside of instructional hours, with agreed-upon procedures for such meetings.
  17. Collaborates with colleagues in planning school events, instructional objectives, and methodologies.
  18. Assists in selecting educational resources, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  19. Participates in extracurricular activities as mutually agreed upon with faculty and administration.
  20. Regularly attends and engages in faculty meetings.
  21. Maintains a professional and cooperative relationship with parents and the community.
  22. Promotes positive public relations for the school and district within the community.
  23. Continuously seeks to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
  24. Performs other related duties necessary for the safe and effective operation of the school as requested by the principal.
  25. Accepts additional reasonable and equitable job-related responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  1. Understanding of child development and the characteristics of students in the assigned age group.
  2. Familiarity with the prescribed curriculum.
  3. Awareness of current educational research and practices.
  4. Basic knowledge of contemporary technology.
  5. Understanding of diverse learning styles and proficiency in employing varied teaching methods to cater to those styles.
  6. Proficiency in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
  7. Ability to plan and execute activities for optimal effectiveness.
  8. Capability to evaluate student achievement accurately, analyze assessment results, and recommend improvement strategies.
  9. Ability to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
  10. Competence in collaborating effectively with peers, administrators, and other stakeholders.
  11. Physical and emotional capability to perform required tasks and navigate a dynamic, high-intensity work environment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits will be provided in accordance with the district's approved compensation structure.
