Job Overview:
The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is inviting applications for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant Research Professor (non-tenure track).
The ideal candidate will lead and manage research initiatives aimed at uncovering the neural circuits and systems involved in sensory-driven motivational decisions and behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement effective methodologies for precise, controlled, and sensitive data collection from awake, behaving mice utilizing optogenetic, chemogenetic, pharmacological, electrophysiological, and optical techniques.
3. Act as a key communicator between the Principal Investigator, laboratory staff, and collaborators both within and outside the institution to ensure efficient project coordination.
4. Compile findings into scholarly articles and present research outcomes at academic conferences.The successful candidate is expected to pursue external funding opportunities to support ongoing projects and assist the Principal Investigator in grant writing and reporting.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain a thorough understanding and adherence to laboratory regulations, including ACS, EH&S, IACUC, and institutional state and federal guidelines.
Ensure accurate record-keeping and legal documentation in compliance with institutional policies related to biological, chemical, and radiation safety. The candidate will be expected to carry out these responsibilities independently, with minimal oversight from the Principal Investigator.
Compensation:
$68,000-$75,000 annually
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a PhD and/or MD in pharmacology or a related discipline, along with 2-6 years of post-doctoral experience or equivalent qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exceptional written English skills for effective manuscript and grant writing. Demonstrated writing ability evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals. Proven experience in managing time effectively to prioritize projects and meet deadlines. Excellent professionalism and interpersonal skills.
