Candidates must be aware of their application to our organization. Direct contact with the facility is not permitted. Applicants should not reside within a 75-mile radius of the designated facility. When submitting applications, please include at least two references (one must be from a current supervisor), a resume, and a completed skills checklist/competency assessment. A minimum of one completed 13-week travel assignment is required, along with two years of experience in a large healthcare setting. Candidates should be team-oriented, adaptable, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assess and treat patients utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of speech, language, communication, cognition, hearing, and dysphagia disorders.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan of patients served.
  • Oversee and ensure a comprehensive rehabilitation program tailored to meet the physical, psychosocial, cognitive, and immediate environmental needs of the patient.
  • Encourage patient and caregiver self-determination by optimizing the use of external resources to achieve the highest level of independence.
  • Collaborate and communicate with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
  • Coordinate efforts towards discharge goals established during the initial evaluation and throughout the care episode.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of speech and language pathology practices, including data interpretation.

Certifications Required: Candidates must hold a valid SLP license, Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), and BLS certification. BLS must be obtained through recognized organizations. Experience and certification for VFSS is advantageous but not mandatory. Familiarity with EMR systems, particularly EPIC, is preferred but not essential.

Work Schedule: This position typically involves 8 to 10-hour day shifts, primarily in outpatient settings with some inpatient responsibilities. Schedules may vary to meet departmental staffing needs. On-call duties, weekend work, and holiday shifts may be required. Travelers may be assigned to float across facilities within a specified radius of their permanent location.

Orientation: Orientation will occur during the first week of the contract, not exceeding 40 total hours, and will include training on the EPIC system.
