Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive individual to deliver comprehensive support for recruitment, marketing, admissions, advising, evaluation, and various other functions related to academic programs within the Commonwealth of Virginia's educational framework. Academic Program Advisors are expected to have a thorough understanding of academic offerings, institutional policies, and student support services relevant to their role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the department's academic leadership with program administration, including data management, reporting, course scheduling, and general record maintenance.
  • Oversee the tracking of admissions and enrollment, which includes preparing necessary surveys and managing data related to student entry and exit.
  • Act as the primary liaison for inquiries related to admissions, representing the department at recruitment functions and co-managing the ambassador initiative.
  • Supervise the entire admissions process, ensuring accurate tracking of application materials, responding to prospective student inquiries, and following up on missing documentation.
  • Manage the distribution of communication materials (both print and digital) to prospective and current students, maintaining relevant distribution systems.
  • Provide assistance for introductory and capstone courses as part of the academic advising framework.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

A Master's degree in a relevant discipline (such as agricultural education, agricultural communications, agricultural science, or related fields) or equivalent experience; Proven experience in program support within an academic or professional setting; Strong organizational abilities with a track record of meeting deadlines; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and engage with the public.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education admissions environment; Familiarity with SLATE Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or similar systems; Understanding of university policies and procedures related to academics and operations; Experience managing student records in databases such as Banner or Navigate; Familiarity with online academic programs.
