Advanced Practice Provider Specialty, Hospitalist

Job Summary:
Highmark Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider Specialty, Hospitalist to join our team. As a key member of our care delivery system, you will provide specialty healthcare services for acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient histories, review medical records, and perform detailed physical examinations to determine patient treatment plans.
- Order and interpret laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies to inform patient care decisions.
- Make accurate medical diagnoses and implement appropriate therapies within applicable scope and standards of practice.
- Document patient information accurately and provide timely instructions and guidance to patients and their families.
- Record and report pertinent information in electronic medical records and communicate with attending physicians as needed.
- Perform hospital rounds, document patient progress, and execute specific orders at the direction of attending physicians.
- Initiate emergency measures and emergency treatment or stabilization measures in acute patient situations.
- Identify and inform attending physicians of significant changes to patient conditions in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional continuing education and participate in medical education for student learners and professional staff.
- Participate in patient safety, quality improvement processes, and patient engagement and satisfaction initiatives.
- Comply with medical staff office requirements and maintain professional practice consistent with organizational and advanced practice mission statements.
- Perform specialty-specific procedures and meet expectations as stated with privileging and job agreement.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited program and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or Graduate from a PA State Board of Nursing Approved Master's or Post Master's program.
- Current Pennsylvania Physician Assistant License or Current Pennsylvania CRNP license and current Pennsylvania RN license.
- CRNPs must obtain Pennsylvania Prescriptive Authority license within 60 days of hire.
- National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- CPR – American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years specialty practice experience.
- 1-3 years clinical experience.
- ACLS certification.
- Specialty certification as available by national agencies.
- DEA license.
