Job Summary:

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Officer to join our team. As a Public Safety Officer, you will be responsible for providing security services to all hospital functions, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties as a security officer, including wearing issued uniform and equipment, maintaining a public presence, and interacting with the public in a positive manner.
  • Dispatch officer duties, including responding to incidents and providing general guidance to the public on security and access issues.
  • Charge officer duties, including responding to altercations and using defensive resources in accordance with hospital use of force policy.
  • Follow all hospital rules and regulations, including understanding hospital SOP for restraint application and commitment against will situations.
  • Attend all required safety training programs and demonstrate knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment.
  • Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Previous law enforcement, military, dispatching, or security experience preferred.
  • CPI, MOAB, Defensive Resources (Baton, Handcuffing, and OC Foam), and Restraint Certification must be obtained within 6 months.
  • Valid Driver's license required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office products and competent with computer skills, multitasking, and dispatching.
