Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will assist the Superintendent and Project Manager in managing all aspects of a construction project, including field operations and project administration.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with pre-construction activities, including construction planning and design, interpretation of design and drawings
  • Have a clear understanding of specifications, drawings, standards, and subcontractor & supplier scope of work
  • Demonstrate, communicate, and reinforce all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Interpret specifications, designs, and drawings and prepare quantity takeoffs
  • Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
  • Verify work-in-place quantities for invoicing/pay quantities
  • Maintain submittal logs and timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings
  • Ensure craft timecards are completed accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on; verify cost codes to all purchases, timecards, contracts, equipment time, and any other item involving cost
  • Maintain as-built drawings; post RFI, bulletin, and ASI as appropriate
  • Maintain RFI logs
  • Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering functions
  • Develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and other work documents, tracks, and logs documentation
  • Take weekly jobsite photographs
  • Work with the Safety Department to ensure that project safety records are accurately maintained
  • Assist in quality control activities
  • Assist in preparing project status reports and participate in project status meetings; assist in development of meeting minutes
  • Assist in project close-out activities
  • May support estimates as needed
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
Requirements:
  • 4-year civil engineering degree or equivalent technical training and related experience
  • 2-4 years of field construction experience
  • E.I.T. preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and interpret plans
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Basic understanding of cost analysis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel as required
Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to carry tools and equipment, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and see and hear well. The employee must frequently work or walk on uneven ground and is required to always wear steel-toed boots. It is mandatory that the employee wear approved personal protective equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
