We are in search of a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Systems Engineer to enhance our team.
As the demand for Microsoft's cloud services escalates, the timely deployment of new offerings and hardware infrastructure at scale and with superior quality becomes critical. The Cloud AI & Advanced Systems Engineering (CAASE) team plays a vital role in establishing and executing operational success metrics for hardware manufacturing, optimizing planning processes, and ensuring quality, delivery, scalability, and sustainability in relation to Microsoft cloud hardware. Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of technical engineering experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or a Master's degree in the same fields with 5+ years of technical engineering experience, or a Doctorate degree in the same fields with 4+ years of technical engineering experience.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with technical leadership in compute and/or AI hardware architecture, design, and development, demonstrating a solid understanding of hardware, firmware, and Operating Systems (OS).
Other Requirements:
Candidates must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, which include passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in System on Chip (SoC) development.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in compute and/or AI hardware architecture, design, and development, with a solid understanding of hardware, firmware, and Operating Systems (OS).
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to partner across various organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with architecture, silicon engineering, firmware, hardware design, hardware validation, OS, manufacturing, and customer teams to create cutting-edge AI, compute, storage, networking, and accelerator hardware solutions.
- Analyze new interfaces and subsystems to formulate integration plans, assess power efficiency, troubleshoot integration challenges, and provide recommendations, particularly focusing on Memory interfaces such as DDR5/LP5/HBM.
- Lead platform and SoC debugging efforts with cross-organizational teams.
- Guide cross-functional workgroups to foster innovative solutions and address complex challenges.
- Define system behavior and operational concepts for the platform to ensure compatibility with Microsoft Azure datacenter software, serviceability, telemetry, and customer expectations.
- Conduct analysis of new, unique, different, and difficult technologies and features, providing risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Drive technical requirements to ensure solutions are flexible and scalable across the entire hardware, firmware, and software stack.
- Facilitate platform and solution-level discussions, influencing product architecture and achieving goals related to quality, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with internal, external, and open-source partners to seamlessly integrate innovative technologies.
